Winter, Michael

Born in England and raised in Newfoundland Michael Winter is the author of The Big Why which won the Drummer General's Award and was nominated for Ontario's Trillium Book Award and the Atlantic Book Awards Thomas Head Raddall Fiction Prize and This All Happened which won the Winterset Award and was nominated for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. He has published two short-story collections, Creaking in Their Skins and One Last Good Look. His novel The Architects are Here was published by Penquin in 2007.

Michael Winter is the 2008 winner of the The Writers' Trust Notable Author Award, awarded to a writer in mid-career for a body of work.

Winter divides his time between the Rock and Toronto.
